I exhibited again my relief - " Meeting the Demons" it was shown at the Contemporary gallery in Tel Aviv http://www.haaretz.co.il/gallery/art/1.1824066

סינגוגה פיטר יעקב מלץ את המנזר הבנדקטיני באבו גוש הכרתי בפעם הראשונה בשנת 1993. היה זה ביקור בשעות הערב המאוחרות בהן הצללים טומנים בחובם סוד ומסתורין. בהיכנסי לכנסיה החשוכה, ריחות הקטורת מתפילת הערב עדיין היו ספוגים באוויר הלח. נדמה שאפילו קירות האבן המקומית היו ספוגים תפילות רבות המבקשות חמלה. מבין קירות אלו בצבצו מבעד הצללים צבעי אוכר, אולטרמרין, אדומים עדינים וירוקים דהויים. הנזיר, אוליביה שהכניס את חבריי ואותי לכנסיה, התקרב אל קירות אלו והאיר באמצעות נר צבעים אלו , שהפכו באור הנר לדמויות קדושים שונות. פניהם היו מחוקות, מעשה אדם וזמן. הנזיר אוליביה, האיר שתי דמויות קטנות הניצבות במרכז הקיר הימני של הכנסייה. האחת דמות מלאך עטור הילה, ולבוש בצבע הארגמן האימפריאלי, דוחף דמות אחרת, פניה מבולבלות ומפוחדות, אוחזת חנית שבורה. מעליה הכיתוב " SYNAGOGA ". הדמויות קטנות ביחס לדמויות בסביבתן ומרחפות ברקע האולטרמרין הכהה. אוליביה, לבוש הגלימה כדמויות המצוירות, הביט בנו בחיוך מבויש והסביר שדמויות אלו מתארות את דחיפת היהדות החוצה על ידי הנצרות. הוא מיד המשיך ואמר " ...

Peter J Maltz: I am an Artist and Tutor. I see myself as a person on a journey. Many times, the work is related to my personal life, the culture and society around me and everyday life. The work encompasses the fields of sculpture and drawing and combines different kinds of abstract and narrative expressive modes. One of my work`s main characteristics is the combination of metaphysical and material themes. Many of my sculptures are in fact reliefs made in the traditions of assemblage and casts . The reliefs create kind of "death masks" or "sculptural photographs" of an event which occurred in a specific location or document a period in my life. My drawings almost always are created as a series, which I perceive as small journeys. The drawings are another way of telling stories about the human search for meaning. In these pieces I combine a personal diary attitude with references to illuminations and other illustrations. My drawings and sculpture are created out of a romantic wish to find great meaning in the time we live in. By documenting and using deliberate dramatic effects I strive to achieve this goal and invite others to experience my conclusions. pjmaltz@gmail.com
