Peter Jacob Maltz's Studio

My one man show in Jerusalem, Artist`s House, 5 th Feb It is also the launch of my book "Roots". Roots: Peter Jacob Maltz displays in his exhibition at the Artists House in Jerusalem ink drawings and text that together create the book "Roots." The drawings incorporate the art of "Early Bezalel" style produced by Ephraim Moses Lilien, and photographs taken by Maltz in Jerusalem and in Shaar Hagai during the summer of 2010. The result of this combination is surprising, sometimes harmonious and other times conflicting. The choice to present the work and launch the book at the Artists House in Jerusalem is not accidental; Maltz chose the space because of its historical context - the original Bezalel building. Maltz sees this exhibition as the height of his research into an allegorical journey, a journey which deals with self-discovery and the search for truth. I had the pleasure to join my friend Jaume and teach in Palma de Majorca. We taught about Landscape and Identity. We spoke about the ideas in art concerning - Home, Journey, Landscape, Territory and Social activism. I also exposed the students to Israeli and Palestinian art.

David Behar Perhaia ( http://www.davidbehar.net/ ) and I are exhibiting at Ticho House ( Jerusalem) from the 4.12 ( 19.30) our video - Motza. It is a video consisting of a split screen. on the left side i am drawing the landscape and on the right side a b/w view of the local nature. it was made as a certain tribute to Anna Ticho`s wonderful art work. it was done as part of a productive collaboration between us that started at 2007.

I was invited by friend Roy Kfir to give a lecture to his high school pupils next to my new outdoor work in Haifa - From here to there, Ofri Eshel took some wonderful photos of the lecture

I am happy to let you know of another outdoor project. it is in Haifa at Wadi Nisnas neighbourhood. I painted with my assistant blue veins flowing down the stairs leading into the neighborhood. it creates this kind of river.I thought of human beings detached from their land and searching for roots. it will be unveiled during a festival taking place in December which is a festival that creates a meeting point of the three religions.
